Western Pleasure Guest Ranch in northern Idaho welcomes families year-round. Families choose from one of the four hand-hewn log cabins at the ranch. Each cabin is authentically decorated and offers some of the coziest dude range cabins in the nation for Western adventure and comfort. Or, guests can choose Grandma or Grandpa’s room on the main level of the lodge or one of four suites on the second level of the lodge.

The ranch is located on 1,100 acres in the Selkirk and Cabinet Mountain Ranges. The spectacular and changing scenery of the seasons varies the activity from summer fun and family programming to fall horseback rides, winter Fat-bat bike rides in snow and spring ski and snowmobile packages—there is a bounty of outdoor activity at the lodge door. For horseback riding, there is an eight-year and above age limit. No fret, there’s plenty of other activity for members of the family.

Families meet in The Great Room for all meals that are served family-style in the off-seasons. There is an upstairs loft for additional relaxation, a recreation room, outdoor hot tub, basketball court, horseshoes, playground for the little ones and laundry facilities. What’s also unique about this guest dude ranch is the cabins can be booked and/or the lodge can be booked in the off-season without meals, or there are B&B offerings to choose from, a rarity in dude ranches.

Strict on the "walk only"

by JZB123

The food and lodging was great. The match of guests to horses is the best I have ever seen. They ask for the tip up front which I have regretted paying since we left. I was raised with horses so understand the "walk only" rules with all the new riders but I have also been to other dude/guest ranches and they all handle it differently. Seemed like owner was very intense throughout the stay. The most disappointing was they divide the riders up with a different wrangler and take different trails for the ride to the swimming hole/lunch well my son was only kid on our trail and we arrived last to the hole. Well the other kids were already out of water by the time we got there so seemed very rushed for my son. Big disappointment for the highlight of our stay. Overall my son had a great time and his horse was amazing!!!

Coziest winter gateway!

We stayed in Grandmas room for two nights this week and we absolutely loved our stay! The room was clean and cozy. The owners made us feel so at home! The lodge itself was beautiful and peaceful. Because we stayed in the lodge itself, breakfast was included for both days. The chef made a delicious country style breakfast that consisted of eggs, bacon, hash browns, oatmeal, fresh fruit and pancakes. There were also hot/cold beverages and popcorn avaible 24/7. Every detail was thought out! We were part of a large group and we are thankful that they accommodated us all so well and we felt truly welcome. Very impressed with the service overall! We would definitely come back and would recommend for al!!
