This was our first visit to Riviera Maya. It completely exceeded our expectations as we got a great deal on our trip and read the reviews about the crappy beach at this hotel. Although the beach was not so hot, the food at Blue Bay was excellent more +and we spent most of our time in the pools anyway.

The pools were fun and well kept and since our room overlooked the smaller pool, we could easily keep an eye on our son and get quick delicious snacks and drinks at the poolside bar. The entertainment was okay and there could have been more activities in the main sports bar, but there were a lot of games at the main pool and the grounds were always clean.

Compared to our trip to Puerto Plata, the service, food and amenities were much better. The only thing I had to get to used to was the musty smell in our bathroom, which went away after a couple days. I think it was because the water leaks through the shower doors if not closed properly. The spa was amazing and definitely worth a visit. We had a great time at Xplor, but be prepared for a lot of walking and standing in line.
