Excellent and Friendly Staff Doesn't Help Hotel's Flaws

by NoAxToGrind

It's too bad. The staff, from the valets to the front desk people and throughout the hotel, are so enthusiastic and friendly. They try so hard... and succeed. But the hotel, as a whole, does not.

No one comes to a hotel to watch TV. But no HBO? No baseball playoff games? How about something simple like a guide to the channels? The paper guide in the rooms is wrong forcing a guest to see what the channels are by flipping through them. A minor inconvenience (and a time-waster since each channel change takes about three seconds) ) but what's so hard about an on-screen guide? What's so hard about HBO?

But that's the TV. How about maintenance? Our bathroom door lock didn't work. The hot water in the shower had a mind of its own...now hot, now cold all without adjusting the mixer.

Not my business to know whether the hotel or someone else maintains the common areas such as the on-premises restaurant but someone should. The doors are rusty (okay...we're near salt water) and the rest rooms near the restaurant are dirty.

Another reviewer said "deteriorated." It does seem that way.

The least of the gripes is the lack of hooks. There is one knob in the bathroom and it's not a hook. Maybe you can hang one pair of pajamas, or one one robe but maybe not. They slide off. Okay...hooks is nitpicking but Marriott's inattention to guest convenience is amplified by this minor annoyance.

Loved it!

Very nice small facility. If you’re a mariner, this is the hotel for you. Memorabilia abounds throughout the first floor. Our room included a balcony on the Chesapeake Bay. We could not have asked for a more beautiful way to start each day. My only negative is the bathroom accommodations. The vanity was very small without much room for toiletries.
