The Front Desk Doesn't Listen

by surfcitytom

We stayed at this location last week. I'd made a reservation online. In doing so I had indicated I was disabled and requested a room adjacent to the lobby or an elevator. The front desk clerk could see my disability. The request was repeated at check-in. No rooms on the first floor. The elevators are at the rear of the building and require an extended walk down several corridors. Whomever designed the building knows nothing about ADA. We get to our floor to find the assigned room was at the very far end of the building. Any further and we would have been out the window. By the time we reached the room, I was thinking a heart attack was setting in. Definitely Not a place for anyone disabled.

Not the best, it could be better

We spent several days at this hotel, there were good and bad things about staying here:
The good: I asked for connecting rooms, which I was able to get. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The pool area was nice and so was the outside patio. The ducks, that were on the property were a nice surprise. The breakfast was hot and the people who worked the breakfast area were very good. The hotel was clean and modern and the staff was friendly.

The bad: Upon check-in, which was after 3pm, only 1 of the 2 rooms was ready, no problem, we all hung out in the room that was ready, but I expected both rooms to be ready at the same time. Most of the rooms with odd numbers, the ones that faced the road, had a view of the front building, 1 of our rooms had a partial view of the road out front, the other room had a full view of the road. I asked the front desk to call my room for me because I needed my room key to get into the pool area. The front desk person called my room, then gave me a key card for my room without asking for i.d. that made me nervous that they give out key cards to anyone because they give the right name that was on the room reservation.

The next time I will be staying somewhere else, there are better places to stay in Williamsburg.
