If you want an accommodation with a bit more Vermont flavor than Okemo’s slopeside condos, try the historic Inn at Weathersfield, 15 miles down the road. A perennial favorite of biking inn-to-inn tours, the nine-room structure was built in 1792 and was used as a stopover on the Underground Railroad. Cross-country ski on 21 acres of farmland or opt for a horse-drawn sleigh ride across the street in a nature preserve.

I found the IW as I was looking for a place to take my husband as a surprise for his birthday. I could not have imagined a more perfect, special, and magical weekend. We spent two nights at the inn and ate dinner there both nights. Richard and Marilee went above and beyond to help make our stay so wonderful. Before we arrived they gave me fabulous tips and advice for local activities and adventures. They along with chef Michael and the entire staff were so helpful and accommodated all of our special dietary needs and allergies. They even made sure to check in with us one night before dinner because they saw some of the food we could eat was running low and they wanted to know if we wanted to order it and if they should put some aside for us! The inn itself is stunning and the room was clean, comfortable, and luxurious. If you are looking for an amazing getaway not too far from Boston this is the place to go!
It wasn't just the weather that was perfect ... this Inn was well, magical. Our 4 day get-away was just too short. The dinners were spectacular - creative breakfasts - all in a charming, warm and extraordinarily well thought out and appointed Inn. Having a background in interior decorating and the hospitality industry, I can totally appreciate what has gone into making this place so special. Tom & Sandy from Florida!
