Overview

A boutique hotel on the larger side, Lion’s Garden has 107 stylish and relaxing rooms, 30 of which include a sofa bed for the kids. They include free high-speed Internet, air conditioning, and minibars, and certain rooms come with a balcony.

Head down to the wellness center to take a dip in the swimming pool, kick back in the hot tub, or warm up in the sauna (all free of charge). Various types of massage treatments are also available.

Enjoy Hungarian and international cuisine at the onsite restaurant, where you’ll find upscale soups, salads, and entrees, plus plenty of drink options, from spirits to wine to beer to summery virgin cocktails. Most of the menu isn’t geared toward children, but they can usually find something to eat there–perhaps the spaghetti, green pepper risotto, or turkey club sandwich. A continental breakfast is served each morning as well; sometimes this is included in the room rate, but sometimes it’ll cost you extra.

Nice friendly hotel but not a 4 star

by gerry n

Hotel was booked through Air Canada Vacations as a possible 4 star in listing of other much nicer more centrally located hotels. On plus side hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is listed as 4 star but really is only a 3 star. Located about 3 km away from city centre so not very walkable; however, bus to downtown is only a few hundred meters from hotel and runs every 15 minutes or less. Breakfast is very average with not many choices and very little fruit to select from. Hotel rooms are dated but very clean. We had a problem with the room over heating which hotel tried to address by opening window (busy loud street).

Staying at this hotel was not a personal choice being a group reservation. The hotel is located relatively far from the city center, traveling with changing means of transport can take more than 1 hour depending on traffic. An added bonus would be the peace around the hotel. The double room is spacious, but the parquet floor can be slightly uncomfortable and slippery. I received a room that communicates with the adjacent one which reduced much of the privacy of the space. Moreover, the walls seem rather thin so that all the noises in the hotel are heard. The bathroom was clean, with good quality toiletries. I didn't understand why if they adopted the eco attitude the towels were changed daily whether they were on the floor or not. The wifi network in the room was of poor quality, one of the worst in the world. As a very strange fact, unfortunately true, the only place where decent wifi worked was in the bathroom. Weird! The breakfast was quite poor and tasteless. Although the breakfast room was quite crowded, the staff seemed rather disinterested in cleaning the tables for other guests. It wasn't the worst place I stayed, but there are many things that can be improved. One of these would be the attitude of the staff from the reception, to the maintenance. Much more customer oriented and more professional would be much better. In no case is a hotel according to the 4 stars they try to display, without being able to reach them.
