Room with a View

by thereys2015

The location of this hotel is great. The view from our room was truly amazing. We did not care much for the in-room dining, they brought our breakfast up and the food was cold. We did not get to see or enjoy the he outside bar with the view because it was closed.

Like coming home at the end of the day

We could not have chosen a better place to stay in The City at the end of our US road trip of the South West.

Located in the Financial District, I think the main clientele may be business people; however, the place is classy but not stuffy and welcomed travellers in our shorts and sneakers with the same warm embrace as the clients in their 3 piece suits. ALL staff great you with a smile and a hello, or 'welcome back' as you pass through reception.

We booked this hotel as a special treat to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary... but with 2 teens in tow. On arrival we were greeted with a congratulations and awaiting us in our room was a bottle of champagne and chocs. This was such a lovely gesture. The room itself was situated on the 43rd floor with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Bay Bridge and the glass walkway in the corridor gave us glimpses of the Golden Gate Bridge in the other direction. If this wasn't enough, they have a Sky Lounge on the 40th floor which was open Tues through Saturday 4pm until 8pm. Alcohol served up there but children welcome.

2 queen beds (very comfy), separate walk in shower and bath tub, ample storage space and small in-room safe. Suggestions: room has the usual overpriced mini bar best suited to business customers but we would have preferred just a small fridge to store some items for the 4 days we stayed there as a family. Also, no tea or coffee making facilities in room. However, with a 7 Eleven open 24 hours a day located just across the street and a Starbucks or Peets just around the corner, this did not stop us having our morning cereal washed down with a latte. Housekeeping was superb! They tended to the room twice daily, we never returned to our room with litter left in the bins and they offered a turn down service at the end of the day. I loved coming back to our room after a day of sightseeing.

Parking and driving in San Francisco can be a challenge. We valet parked at the hotel for 24 hours at a cost of $70 + tax then handed the car back. Unfortunately, the complimentary car the hotel offers was either not running or had been booked by other customers on the times we tried to use it. With Uber and Lyft widely available throughout the city, we were never too far from a cheap ride.

Finally, recycling: recycling bin in room but not evident what goes where as both bins had recycling signs on them. Would also like to see you replace small one time use toiletries with refillable dispensers.

We loved San Francisco and would love to visit again one day. I would normally try other hotels if returning to the same city but I really felt at home at Loews Recency San Francisco that I would happily return for a second or third stay.
