Nice Hotel, Well-Located

by tmccaleb

Nice hotel, nice room but small, nice bathroom with double sinks, great closet space but the pulls on the closet doors are almost impossible to use; excellent location with most interesting sites downhill (of course, you have to get back up the hill, but if taxis are available for the return trip if desired). Laundry service is VERY EXPENSIVE (the Spanish paradors are less than half the price). The elevators are crazy--you never know exactly what will happen when you push the button for a particular floor. The carriage might go where you want it to, or it might make a detour, but it will eventually get there! LOL!

Impressed with this hotel.

We stayed here for five nights in October. The position of the hotel was ideal as it was beside the bus and tram routes and close to the shops. The train station was around ten minutes walk. The hotel was close to the centre of the city. Places of interest were within a short walking distance. Our room was on the fifth floor overlooking the large theatre and the street below. The room was very quiet and once the window to the terrace was closed you could not hear any traffic. The room was smaller than what we have experienced in Portugal before. The toilet and shower room was quite substantial.
The breakfast was buffet style and was good. The catering staff were helpful and pleased to help. We did have three evening meals at the hotel. These were also good. The bar staff including Bruno and others were always pleasant and helpful. They made you feel welcome as did the reception staff.
There is an indoor swimming pool which we used several times.
The decor of the hotel is modern . It is well maintained and clean.
The hotel was an ideal place to stay if you wanted easy access to the city sites. Its central position was ideal.
It would definitely be worth a return visit due to the friendly staff and the welcome you received on arrival.
