HORRIBLE!

by bwbsmom

Today was our first day here and we already want to go home!
We checked in from the airport at 4pm. It's currently 11:50pm as I write this and we are still having issues!
I came with a large family group and their rooms were fine.
Our First Room (2305) Horrible strong mildew smell. When I brought it up to staff, they said they would housekeeping spray it with freshener. I refused because my son has asthma and it's not good for him to breathe this all week. (Also, our neighbor in 2304 was also having the same issue. She was actually upgraded!)
Second Room (2402) Again, Mildew Smell!
Third Room (4418) Front desk rep Carlos said he would "Walk me there and smell the room himself" when we arrived on the floor we all smelled a Baby Powder scent, which just kept getting stronger the further down the hall we got. Low and behold it was because it was coming from the room they were offering us! It was so strong our bellhop had to stand outside the door. It was headache strong! But even with the strong scent, you could smell a weird funk.
Fourth Room (1508) No mildew smell, but we paid for an Ocean view and we have a
view of the courtyard and small part of the pool.
My sister on law had to change her room because her bed had sand all over it and wasn't even cleaned!

After dinner, my mother went back to her room (11pm) but couldn't access her room. The front desk told her the fob machine's battery on her door had died! She waited over 30mins for then to fix the door!
This place is a joke!
I'm trying to call Melia customer service but all the offices are closed.

We loved the staff, Especially Ricardo he was our Royal services assistant and Kenny at the pool bar amazing people!! We just wished there was more entertainment, but if your going to have a quiet relaxing vacation with breathtaking views this is the place. They also do weekly turtle releases, they work directly with UNICEF to release baby turtles weekly back into the ocean. We had a great relaxing vacation, thank you to all the rest of the staff, they were very helpful.
