Clift Hotel is located near Union Square and Nob Hill, offering many area restaurants, boutiques and entertainment. Families can stay in a spacious, elegant private apartment, a room or a suite. Units are equipped with wireless Internet, making it easy to plan area activities on-the-spot. Layouts vary and may include sitting areas or dining rooms. Bedrooms have a chic airy ambience and feature down duvets and flat-screen televisions. The Velvet Room offers an upscale venue for guests to dine. The comfy wooden Library Room is a good place to curl up with a book or people watch, as well.

When booking the hotel on concurs it looked really nice, but upon arrival I found out different. My first room was small, with stained carpets, peeling wallpaper, a leaky A/C unit that made the carpets damp, gnats flying around, and a dirty bathroom. I asked the front desk staff to change rooms and they happily obliged but the second room had even dirtier carpets, smelled of chemicals, and the vent over the tub had debris falling from landing in the tub. The fixtures in the bathroom where rusty and the tile stained. I asked to moved again and the third room was slightly better as the bathroom was at least. Livable but still suffered for Stained carpets, peeling wallpaper, worn electrical outlets, and stained tubs and tiles. I plan to go back to San Francisco with my wife for my anniversary in March 2020 and again for the same conference I went to this year but I would not stay at the Clift Royal ever again in its current condition
Great hotel located in the center of SF, very friendly staff that helped us to change rooms. The lobby has the appearance of a luxurious dance club. Complementary water/coffee/tea in the lobby. Rooms are spacious. Only downside was the current renovations going on.
