Overview

For something a little different, The Grand Victorian B&B in Nye Beach offers their Vintage Cottage for a reasonable price. Perfect for a small family that wants the comforts of home, this cute little cottage has two bedrooms, with three beds, a full kitchen, living room, and a dazzling sun porch with ocean views. You still get a delicious breakfast served up by the owners, but you can take advantage of the kitchen for lunch and dinner.

Nye Beach is an ideal location for walking to shops and restaurants, while the beach is mere minutes away via Don Davis Park. Best yet, if the kids need to burn off more energy, take them down the street to Coast Park, where they can slide, swing, and jump to their heart’s content. Other amenities include free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a fireplace, free coffee, and evening dessert. Plus, the B&B owners are a wealth of information about the area, and are more than happy to help plan your activities.

Enjoyable

Stayed in the Vintage Cottage for 2 nights. It is a very comfortable 2 bedroom cottage with basic amenities and a laid back atmosphere feeling; good for a small family or 2 couples. Breakfast and desserts are delivered rather than dining in the main house. The Grand Victorian B & B is up for sale, but not the Vintage Cottage.

Quaint little getaway spot!

Found this adorable place online and was blown away by the price for the St Charles Room: $100 per night!! This was the cheapest room, as it faced the street. The Lady Catherine on the same floor, facing the ocean, runs about $120. The entire top floor, the Victorian Suite, is $160 and you get your own bath. The second floor rooms share a large bathroom across the hall and we had no issues with it. The water pressure in the claw foot tub is very nice. The provides towels felt and smelled clean and fresh (very important, I think).

They asked everyone to leave their shoes in a little nook in the entry in order to maintain their gorgeous wood floors (cherry, mahogany?) and cut down on shoe noises for a quiet stay. Our room had a small TV in it and there was a selection of VHS tapes to choose from. We ended up watching a few, as Newport wasn't as entertaining as we hoped. However, we didn't mind since we just wanted to relax in our pajamas anyway.

The rates include an appetizer and bottled water upon arrival (at the time, choices are Tillamook cheeses, candied salmon or pink shrimp cocktail), fresh dessert each night plus a full breakfast.

APPETIZER: My husband and I both chose the shrimp cocktail, which appeared in crystal glasses and a little cup of cocktail sauce. Yum! It was a chic way to kick off our getaway.

DESSERTS: First night was fresh and chewy oatmeal raisin cookies with ice cream and the second night was a serving of sweetened strawberries in a generous pool of homemade whipped cream (served in a china bowl and kept in the fridge for each patron). She kept my cocoa allergy in mind and made desserts I could eat, it was so kind of her.

BREAKFAST: Where do I begin?? Eileen took our orders the night before and we did the same thing both mornings. Choices at the time: Pancakes (plain, blueberry) or French toast, sausage links or bacon, hashbrowns (and toast, I think?), and eggs your preference. We both went with French toast, sausage, hasbrowns and two fried eggs (mine runny yolk, husband's over-hard). Also choices of coffee/tea and cranberry/orange juice. The dining room is quaint and you are greeted with beautiful music, candles and an elegant place setting.

The French toast was definitely homemade, thick slabs of sweet bread with a streusel-like topping. Her hashbrowns were perfect: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and not greasy. She said she takes an hour to get them that way, starting off with a big stack of potato shreds and cooks them slowly to get that perfect texture. We left STUFFED! Don't bother worrying about where to get lunch because you won't need it.

Please stay here, it is such a nice place for an affordable getaway. Definitely get more bang for your buck!! It is in the Nye Beach area and easy to get to and plenty of places nearby to shop and eat.

(Parking is in front of the house and across the street. You are given an official parking placard so nobody will try having you towed. I recommend parking across from the B&B, as the building is next to a residential home with kids that played basketball on the sidewalk and constantly lost control of the ball. We parked away so the kids wouldn't touch our car.)

10/27/17 Update:
We stayed in the Lady Catherine room this time and like before, everything was great! Breakfast was bountiful, Eileen was a lovely hostess and the stay was relaxing.
