Girl trip

by Jennitravels1

Firstly, I would like to preface by stating that this vacay was my first trip to Mexico. I was very excited because I've heard amazing stories about the country and the culture. I was very excited about staying in Cancun (party capital) and I thought it was a perfect place for a girl’s trip.

We stayed at reflect Cancun and upgraded so that we would receive all the VIP amenities. When we first arrived, check-in was quick and easy. I observed the resort to be on the smaller size, however, the outdoor space was well manicured (I will get back to this).

The check-in process was quick and smooth. We were all sorted within twenty minutes. The initial room that we were placed in was not pleasant. This room was facing the street, not a very pleasurable view. But on top of this, there was a resort on the opposite side of the street that had a large fan attached to the roof. The noise was loud and constant. We subsequently had are room switched with no issue. The new room was lovely, pool and beach view. The only draw back was that instead of having separate beds, this new room and all the rooms facing the pool only come with one king size bed in each room. We were able to get a cot as well.

The beach was lovely and in the upgraded package we had access to a beach bed for one day. It should be noted that reservations have to be made the day before in order to access this privilege. Service on the beach was lovely, staff were friendly and catered to us well. Shout out to Carlos, he is so lovely and professional.

In regards to the concierge at the reflect (Monique and Ismael) they were just okay. Didn’t really greet us upon entry and exit of the building. Were not very personable. I honestly felt like they did not even see us and at times I thought they could have been more engaging and accommodating. An example of this is when we were trying to make reservations for the Mexican restaurant off resort (Hacienda El Mortero restaurant). Ismael gave us a run around stating that we could not reserve, then he stated that there was no more availability before finally agreeing to make the reservation. We had to be very persistent and we called to reserve the day before right at 9:00am. It almost felt like this restaurant was being intentionally kept under wraps (weird, I know). But the food was so delicious and the atmosphere was great.

The food on the resort was in my opinion not great. The best thing was the cheeseburger. The buffet was very unappetizing and had very few options. I enjoyed having access to 24 hr room service however, it was definitely a perk for late nights.

There is really no night life on resort, but this is okay before it’s a five minute walk to the club district so we spent most nights off the resort and I never felt unsafe at all.
Check-out was a bit more frustrating. We requested a later check-out time and the staff were gracious enough to provide us with an hour extension (1pm). Our shuttle bus was not expected to arrive until 3:30pm. With this in mind, we enjoyed our last day by the pool. Staff assured us that we would have access to a complimentary change room to get ready prior to our shuttle arriving.

When we went to the concierge to request the change room. Staff was very rude and dismissive. We were advised that the change room was occupied and that we would have to change in the bathroom as there were no vacancies in the hotel (BS). We quickly asked to speak to a manager and miraculously we were able to secure a room to shower and dress (rolls eyes). Unfortunately because of the initial discrepancy, we missed our original shuttle. We arranged to obtain another transport bus approximately 15 minutes after.

Overall the stay was decent. I liked the location (club district) and the idea of 24 hr room service. The beach was nice and the hotel was clean. Staff could have been friendlier (I did not feel like a VIP) and accommodating and I wish the food was better.

Excellent Solo Stay at Reflect Krystal Grand!

by lasarasdestiny

After reading other reviews I decided to upgrade to the Altitude Tower and it was worth it, especially as a solo guest!
The resort is somewhat compact, which means there isn't a lot walking required within the resort. The resort is located at the tip of the "strip" and is close to bars and other restaurants.
The room check-in as an Altitude Tower guest was a breeze! There was never a wait to speak to the front desk attendant for assistance. My standard room was on the 8th floor and had a view of the top of the beach/lagoon. The room itself was very clean and modern. The bathroom was spacious. The only negative about the room was that the water from the toilet reeked.
There are two pools, one main resort pool and one infinity pool for upgraded guests. When upgraded, you are allowed a reserved bali bed for one day. The beach was huge and had plenty of loungers.
The food at the resort was great! You can reserve a table for dinner the morning of or wait around the resort for 30 min until your table is ready. The Italian and hibachi were the best! The attitude tower has a breakfast/snack bar that was always stocked. Drinks on the resort were delicious, not too sugary or watered-down. The attitude tower however has a premium bar.
The service at this resort was impeccable! I was greeted by every employee with a smile and was attended to consistently during meals. Room service was timely and guest services was always helpful. The staff were readily available around the resort to place drink or snack orders.
I would highly recommend this resort to anyone as I would return to it in the future!
