Expansive Beautiful Resort

by Camper26397

Beautiful resort and easy to maneuver. Service was excellent. Beach was beautiful and wide but not swimmable. Many pools, and restaurants, we went during the slow period. Don't know what it would be like prime time.

Staff was Amazing; Facility Was Poor

by LaTangonistaSF

First let me say the staff was absolutely wonderful, and the best part of our trip. Orlinda (Adult Pool Waitstaff) Alfonso (Mixologist), Efrain (Buffet Waitstaff(, Fernando (Mixologist w/ comedy routine)--gave 200%. The facility was run down, no AC in restaurants (most open air in 95° + high humidity), and the beach in front of the property was black flagged and had dangerous current. My friends we part of the VIP Vacation club and had to change rooms because the AC didn't work in the Altitude room they had, plus it was falling apart. The room they switched to had a nice view, but the painting was also falling off the wall, there were never any hand towels or wash cloths in my room, or theirs, except the 1st day. My room was in the older part of the hotel and had a kitchenette. It was pretty, but the shower was very small and there was a rust ring next to the toilet. The bed linens were not changed once in 7 days. There were crusty deposits (you can guess what) on the bed runner I noticed on 2nd day. I placed it off bed/on floor and it was never changed. The duvet had a black mark from a flip flop (I think) so I knew it hadn't been changed for 7 days, with same mark. Room service items had to be picked up by room service. Maid service left helpful notes to this effect, but you have to call room service again and wait for pickup--sometimes an hour, sometimes never showing up. That said, they were short staffed, but the security of the place was very good. I'm told Cancin's Krystal Reflections is far more superior. This was a nice family resort, with some activities like movies, etc to keep the kids busy. But everything closed at 11pm--making room service and TV the only entertainment option other than the Time Out Sporys Bar, which was open until 12am. The walls of my room were very thin. I heard everything... and I do mean EVERYTHING you could do in a bathroom or a bed. Not a great option if you have kiddos, obviously, in that room.
